Common questions
How much does an asphalt driveway cost in Rio Rancho?
Most new asphalt driveways around Rio Rancho run roughly $5–$9 per square foot including base prep; dirt and gravel conversions are often less. See the cost guide for examples.
How thick should my driveway be?
Most homes get 4–6 inches of compacted aggregate base and 2–3 inches of compacted asphalt. RV pads and truck areas get more of both.
Can you pave over my gravel?
After it's regraded, topped up where thin and compacted into a real base — yes. Asphalt on loose gravel cracks early.
Should I overlay or replace?
If the base is sound and the damage is mostly on the surface, overlay. Widespread alligator cracking, sinking or edges sliding off mean the base has failed and those areas need replacement.
Do you build RV pads?
Yes, with a heavier base and thicker asphalt than a car driveway, and a clean tie-in to existing concrete.
How long before I can drive on new asphalt?
Usually 2–3 days for cars. Keep trailer jacks and heavy trucks off it for the first few weeks, and avoid turning the wheels while parked in hot weather.
When should I sealcoat?
Wait 6–12 months after paving, then every 2–3 years.
Do you seal cracks?
Yes — with hot-pour rubberized sealant that flexes through cold nights and hot days.
What's best for a long drive on a dirt-road lot?
Usually asphalt at the house and chip seal or compacted millings toward the road.
Can neighbors split the cost of a private road?
Yes. We price the whole road and break it out by section or lot.
Do you work for HOAs and businesses?
Yes — HOA streets and lots, retail, offices, churches, storage yards and more, phased around your schedule.
Do I need a permit?
Paving on your own property usually doesn't. Work at the street or in a right-of-way may need a city, village, county or state permit. We'll check at the quote.
Do you work in Albuquerque?
Yes — the West Side near Rio Rancho (Paradise Hills, Ventana Ranch, Taylor Ranch, Cottonwood / Seven Bar) and Los Ranchos in the North Valley.
